IFA and gamescom 2019: Innovations for year-end business

One of our most important trade fairs, IFA 2019, is behind us. Also this year we were able to make many new contacts and have good conversations with our partners. The gamescom was also on our agenda. It presented many innovations in the gaming sector and again recorded a new record number of visitors.

Highlights and novelties

Last year the IFA was already able to announce successful figures with around 1,800 exhibitors and a leased area of around 161,000 square metres. The trade fair built on this success this year and presented more innovations than ever before in 2019.

Nowhere are so many new products for digital life brought together in one place as at IFA. For us, the trade fair is one of the most important events in the telecommunications sector in Germany.

Brodos Business Park with new products and solutions

At the Brodos Business Park stand, IFA visitors not only expected the latest products and solutions from the mobile phone industry, but also found time to exchange ideas and network with manufacturers and customers.

As last year, the joint stand with HMD Global (Nokia), Cat, Lebara and myScreen Protector once again proved its worth. 

The stand was very well attended throughout and the meeting rooms were always fully booked. The IFA is also a great platform for the exchange with our customer and supplier partners. We were able to efficiently complete many meetings and adopt numerous actions for the fourth quarter as well as discuss joint activities for 2020.

Omnichannel gains importance

At the IFA, the topic of Omnichannel in retail was also repeatedly addressed. With our brodos.net system we offer dealers a functioning full service offer as an alternative to mostly complicated and expensive island solutions. The positive response of our customers encourages us to support more and more players from the trade with our Omnichannel solution.

Further highlights at the IFA were, of course, Smarthome, especially in private households, and G5 for network operators. It was also nice to see that the smartphone was at the centre of most topics.

gamescom with record figures

The gamescom 2019 in Cologne is over and from August 20th to August 24th it was once again possible to catch a first glimpse and new impressions of hightly anticipated titles with numerous events and acts from all over the world. gamescom is the world’s largest trade fair for computer games and video games and, with 373,000 visitors in 2019, one of the largest public trade fairs in Germany. One of the trend themes this year is cloud gaming.

For us, the gamescom in Cologne is a must-attend event, as it enables us to meet with our long-standing partners in the field of digital products to discuss our joint projects. We were able to confirm that the gaming industry continues to grow rapidly. Major revenue drivers are in-game purchases, which rose by 28 percent to EUR 1.9 billion, and subscriptions also doubled. 

Highlights of gamescom

One of the highlights was Cyperpunk 2077, the most exciting game of the fair. But Doom Eternal and Age of Empires 2 are also high on the list of the most coveted games 2019 – 2020. All games that we provide to our partners through code to content.

The Game Pass Ultimate, which was first presented at E3 2019, also received special attention at gamescom this year. It combines all the benefits of the previous versions, such as access to over 100 popular single titles, which can now be accessed on both console and PC, with Xbox Live Gold membership. ContentCard ensures that merchants throughout Europe can offer this product on time for Christmas.
